Social accountability and social mobilization play an important role in the provision of public services, especially those related to nutrition. Using data from the Maternal and Neonatal Child Survival (MNCS) project in Bangladesh, the study will look at the role of community action groups in improving the coverage of nutrition services in areas serviced by the project, led by the Government of Bangladesh and UNICEF. The study, due to be completed in 2014, is being led Radwanur Rahman, M Anisul Karim, DM Emdadul Hoque, with Shams El Arifeen of the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B).

Progress has been made in studying the potential for social accountability mechanisms and social mobilization to improve the quality of service delivery and the inclusiveness of coverage, using data from the Maternal and Neonatal Child Survival (MNCS) project in Bangladesh. The study explores the role of community action groups in improving the coverage of nutrition services. Data analysis is underway.
