Tracing and Measuring Empowerment and Change in Women's Lives

The research investigated the definition of empowerment in Palestinian women's organisations and contextualised it in Palestinian practices of mobilisation and resistance.
Based on interviews and focus group discussions, Eileen found that the concept has acquired alternative meanings. Ways of understanding empowerment have emerged that go beyond instrumentalism and recapture some of its historical original associations as power and resistance.
