The Global Hub held its 2nd Advisory Group Meeting on 13 February 2008 following a workshop on its Conceptualising Empowerment project. The advisory group is made up of members from civil society, academia and international development agencies with the purpose of helping to ensure the academic quality of research and effectiveness of the Global Hub communications strategy. The meeting included presentations of four research projects which started in 2007 and a report back on how the year had progressed.
This project explored the meanings and debates around women’s empowerment within and among sets of actors with a global reach, and how they are shaping values, ideas and policy actions (or absence of actions) on women’s empowerment. …
This report covers the second meeting of the Global Programme Advisory Group (GPAG) of the Pathways to Women’s Empowerment Research Programme Consortium (RPC), which is a five year programme funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID). A group from civil society, academia and international development agencies, the GPAG’s purpose is to help ensure academic quality of research and effectiveness of the Global Hub communications strategy. This second GPAG meeting follows that held on 16-17 November 2006 where the advisory group reviewed initial research project proposals.
