Pathways of Women’s Empowerment has been built as a network with multiple, horizontal links between partners. Our ‘Pathways way of working’ emphasises principles of democracy, transparency and solidarity. Each of our core partners acts as a ‘regional hub’ selecting their own partners and establishing agendas and activities appropriate to their region.

Our management group, which meets once or twice annually, comprises each of the regional hub convenors, together with the theme convenors who help steer the intellectual direction of each theme, the Pathways Director, Communications Manager and Programme Officer. Pathways was established with funding from the UK Department of International Development through its research programme consortia. It is currently funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), with additional funding from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs which supports the Pathways of Women’s Empowerment in Countries in Conflict, Post-Conflict and Crisis stream of work.
