Teaching Citizenship

The Citizenship DRC is associated with several undergraduate and post-graduate courses (and some training programmes not mentioned here). These courses are diverse; each is situated in a distinct political context and institutional culture, and each uses different teaching practices. The courses, however, all have two things in common. They have all integrated Citizenship DRC materials centrally into their curriculums, and they have all been influenced by a process of reflection and peer-to-peer sharing. This experimental process of developing curriculum in different countries through peer support, and the lessons learnt by introducing critical, comparative research on citizenship into the classroom, are described in the attached paper.
