Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion within water, sanitation and hygiene
This discussion paper was developed by, and is the result of, a collaboration between WaterAid, CBM Australia and Di Kilsby Consulting. It is based on reflections on applying integrated gender and disability advisory support to rightsbased water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs in Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea.

These women have broken all stereotypes to improve sanitation in rural India
At a time when many national and international media report on the atrocities committed against women in India, the stories of women's leadership in development remains an oft-ignored story. As India pitches headlong into making toilets in the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), there are heart-warming stories of women leading campaigns for better lives in their panchayats against heavy odds. A small percentage of the 271,000 villages that have rid themselves of open defecation can be attributed solely to the efforts of these women.

WASH Talk podcast on gender equality in rural sanitation
In this IRC WASH Talk episode host Andy Narracott talks to Gabrielle Halcrow of SNV Asia about delivering gender positive water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programmes in the SDG era. Gabrielle is SNV’s programme coordinator for the Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (rural) Programme in Asia. She has 20 years of professional experience working with WASH, gender equality and public health programmes with local and state governments and international development organisations.

Soutenir les plus pauvres et vulnérables dans les programmes ATPC
La CLTS Knowledge Hub et l’UNICEF ont organisé un atelier centré sur l’Asie, intitulé « Soutenir les plus pauvres et les plus vulnérables dans les programmes ATPC » aux Philippines en mai 2017. L’événement a réuni des participants dotés d’une solide expérience de première main avec les programmes ATPC, en capacité de chercheurs ou d’appui aux quatre coins du continent.

Il est prouvé qu’un programme d’Assainissement total piloté par la communauté (ATPC) bien facilité qui tient compte des gens susceptibles d’être défavorisés et les fait participer de manière proactive peut présenter de nombreux avantages. Faute de quoi, cela peut avoir, et aura souvent, des impacts négatifs et cela rendra les programmes et l’obtention du statut FDAL non durables.

On World Toilet Day, UN Highlights Human Rights Challenge for SDG Target 6.2
The UN, governments and civil society observed World Toilet Day 2017, with messages focused on the theme, ‘Toilets and Wastewater,’ which stressed the need for safe treatment and disposal of fecal waste. On the occasion, UN-Water, UNICEF, the International Chamber of Commerce and several governments reported on progress towards SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation).

Leaving no country behind: Niger – A personal insight
Niger is an incredible country, the largest (by area) in West Africa, a relative haven of safety sandwiched between more turbulent neighbours (Libya, Mali, northern Nigeria), and of strategic importance for the security of the region. Ancient trade routes snake across the Sahara, where the Tuareg people are able to navigate endless dunes using the stars at night. Natural resources such as uranium and gold, oil and coal can be found. The Niger River runs through the west of the country, where island communities are skilled in building beautifully decorated mud houses.

A falta de um programa desta natureza pode ter e muitas vezes terá impactos negativos e tornará os programas e o ODF insustentáveis.
