The Lilongwe Briefings: outputs from the international workshop in Lilongwe

From the 6th-10th August 2012, IDS convened an international workshop on CLTS Monitoring, Verification, Learning and Information Management in Lilongwe, Malawi. The event brought together CLTS practitioners from NGOs, governments and international agencies from 16 countries where CLTS is being implemented, plus participants from the UK and the USA.

De 6 - 10 Août 2012, IDS a organisé un atelier international sur le thème de surveillance, de vérification, de gestion des connaissances et apprentissage de l'information dans L’ATPC, à Lilongwe, au Malawi. L'événement a réuni des praticiens ATPC des ONG, des gouvernements et des organismes internationaux de 16 pays où l'ATPC est mis en œuvre, ainsi que les participants du Royaume-Uni et aux Etats-Unis.

Rationale

CLTS is now being implemented in more than 50 countries, of which at least 15 have made CLTS official national policy. With many countries embarking on national campaigns with ambitious targets, it is critical and timely to look in detail at different strategies and systems for post-triggering and post ODF monitoring, verification, and information management and learning. The aim of this specialised workshop was to bring together government and other actors to share their methods and experiences.

The workshop resulted in a set of practical recommendations and a menu of options to help governments, NGOs and others involved in CLTS in their planning and action, the Lilongwe Briefings.

Raisonnement

L’ATPC est actuellement mis en œuvre dans plus de 50 pays, dont au moins 15 ont fait l'ATPC politique nationale officielle. Avec de nombreux pays de se lancer dans des campagnes nationales avec des objectifs ambitieux, il est essentiel et opportun d'examiner en détail les différentes stratégies et systèmes de post-déclenchement et le suivi post-ODF, de vérification et de gestion des informations et l'apprentissage. L'objectif de cet atelier spécialisé était de réunir le gouvernement et les autres acteurs à partager leurs méthodes et leurs expériences.

L'atelier a débouché sur un ensemble de recommandations pratiques et un menu d'options pour aider les gouvernements, les ONG et les autres acteurs impliqués dans l'ATPC dans leur planification et l'action, les Lilongwe Briefings.
