On the 6th January 2012, EWB and the Ministry of Health, supported by IDS, held a district-level sanitation monitoring and evaluation (M&E) pilot review workshop. The objectives of this workshop included:

  • updates on the current status of the pilot program,
  • clarification on the proposed indicators,
  • review of responsibilities,
  • data collection, entry, and analysis activities,
  • harmonization of proposed district indicators with other sector indicators,
  • the creation of an action plan for going forward.

The workshop was an initiative of the Open Defecation Free (ODF) Task Force which aims to drive the harmonization of indicators for Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and sanitation overall, and develop a tool that can be applied nationwide for increased information flow between districts, and between districts and the national level.
