Food Security Cutting Edge Pack now available in Spanish and French

BRIDGE is committed to accessible, multilingual gender knowledge. That’s why we try and make all our resources available in multiple languages, including our newest Cutting Edge Pack on Gender and Food Security which can now be read in Spanish, French and English.

There is more than enough food in the world to feed everyone, but the number of people affected by hunger and malnutrition is still unacceptably high, with disproportionate impacts on women and girls. Food and nutrition insecurity is a political and economic phenomenon fuelled by inequitable global and national processes. It is also an environmental issue. Most importantly, food and nutrition insecurity is a gender justice issue. 

Women are often hardest hit by food insecurity, due to socially entrenched gender roles and norms. With an emphasis on access to resources both for production and consumption, the Cutting Edge Pack on Gender and Food Security addresses how food security interventions empower women. It calls for current policies to recognise the key role women play in enabling food security in the household and community and challenge the underlying inequalities and social norms that often constrain women’s rights, status and productivity. 

Our regional partners’ websites Observ'action (Francophone Africa) and Anacaonas.net (Latin America) are currently developing new pages on food security, integrating resources on the topic from their region.
