How are gender relations affected in the four phases of an armed conflict: pre-conflict; conflict; peace process; and post-conflict? This report presents detailed case studies of specific conflicts corresponding to these four phases. Each case study explores the gender dimensions of the conflict in terms of: political, legal and human rights issues; demography and health; economics; social welfare and social organisation; socio-cultural and ideological issues; and personal/psychological issues. In each case gender issues in international interventions are also examined.
