Country profiles

As our work on women’s unpaid care develops, we will be providing background information and findings on all of our focus countries.

  • Working with partners BRAC Development Institute to develop policy asks on unpaid care in Bangladesh and advocate for these at different strategic forums.
  • Working with partners SMERU to ensure inclusion of unpaid care work into national and global policy agenda.
  • Collaborating with Action Aid International Kenya to help women reduce their unpaid care work responsibilities through access to clean water in the rural community of Tangulbei and the provision of infrastructure to access services in the peri-urban community of Bamburi.
  • The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is helping Action Aid International Nepal to work with the new Social Protection Department to develop a security fund policy that recognises unpaid care work.
  • Working with Action Aid International Nigeria to help establish Early Child Development (ECD) Centres to assist women directly with their unpaid care work, enabling them to partake in paid work.
  • Supporting our partners in Action Aid International Uganda to develop an advocacy strategy making unpaid care work visible in the national policy space. In addition, working with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Gender and building unpaid care work concerns into the programming in the areas of sustainable agriculture and HIV.
