How to package, present and deliver your research to the media

The Impact Initiative is delighted to be running a workshop on: How to package, present and deliver your research to the media at the UKFIET International Conference on Education and Development.

The UKFIET Conference provides an annual forum for universities, non-governmental organisations, policymakers, consultancy groups and professional associations to share ideas, knowledge and expertise on education and international development. This year's conference takes place at The University of Oxford Examination Schools, Oxford, UK from 7th to 9th September 2017.  The overarching conference theme explores: 'Learning and teaching for sustainable development: Curriculum, cognition and context.' A number of grant holders on the ESRC-DFID Raising Learning Outcomes programme and Joint Fund for Poverty Alleviation will be attending the conference. A draft conference timetable is here.

The Impact Initiative workshop on How to package, present and deliver your research to the media takes place on 6 September (from 13.30 to 15.00 BST and will offer expert insights from top BBC, Guardian and Press Association education journalists on how to use the media to maximise engagement and impact. We’ll be asking them: Under what circumstances should researchers be trying to get their work published in the press, and how can they make the most effective use of this? They will share their thoughts on what kinds of research journalists want to publish, how researchers can avoid misrepresentation, as well as offering tips on how to write a good press release and communicate research to non-expert audiences. There will be an opportunity to pitch your research, and receive feedback, in this interactive session.

The workshop is open to participants who are registered for the UKFIET ConferencePlease note that spaces at the workshp will be limited. Conference participants will be invited to register for the workshop in advance.
